Jacobs Field Services have a 12 monthly health & well-being events calendar/initiatives; there are various monthly topics, of which January is volunteering. We are grateful to Chris (Health & Safety Manager) and his colleagues for coming to Lillyhall to help pack a further 250 bags for our Lunchpacks 4 Kids scheme.
Across the district of Allerdale & Copeland in Cumbria, there are many children on free school meals due to low income. However, there is no provision in school holidays for these individuals. As a foodbank we wanted to provide greater support for these families so that they would not go hungry over these periods. Since 2016, we have been partnering with Primary Schools across the district to enable access to food for these families.
We now have sufficient for those families that will need help over the Easter holidays (approx. 450 bags - or 3.2 tonnes of food).
Jacobs regularly support the Foodbank financially with the proceeds from their annual Golf Day and this provided an opportunity for them to see 'up close' the work that we do.
Using technology to increase access to youth mental health support may offer a practical way for young people to reach guidance, safe-spaces, and early help without feeling overwhelmed by traditional systems.
